Marangu Lutheran Hospital (MLH) is a religious health care facility of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania- Northern Diocese (ELCT-ND), located at Marangu, subdivision of Moshi rural district of Kilimanjaro region in Tanzania
MLH is licensed and granted by the Government of Tanzania through the Ministry of Health under registration of Voluntary Agency Hospital (VAH). MLH supervises 5 dispensaries and 1 health centre at distances varying from 15-45Km and catchment approx 400,000 people Most of them being peasants, growing coffee and bananas.
It was established as a small dispensary at Ashira, with a small room intended to serve missionaries working in the area. In 1936 the dispensary had expanded sufficiently to work as a fully hospital including inpatient services!,The facility was founded in 1907 by the German Missionaries; Sr. Elizabeth Seesemann & Sr. Gesine Sammy from the Lepzig.
In 1945 the hospital was moved to its present site at Kitemboni having 36 beds.
In 1989 the hospital was renovated to 80 beds with the aid from Finnish Lutheran Church.
